Aoudad, also known as Barbary Sheep, originated in the mountains of North Africa. Both male and female Aoudad have outward curved horns and a thick mane and chaps that stretch down the throat covering their chest and legs. Both the horns and chaps on the male Aoudad are much bigger and more pronounced than the female. Having excellent site and hearing, as well as being a vary wary animal by nature can make for a challenging hunt. The Aoudad has earned the nickname “Dessert Ghost” by some.
